Eagles Get 4th Place Tie in New Castle Invitational

By Brad Baughman | May 20, 2024 12:00 AM

The Eagles fired a 377 Saturday at Westwood Golf Club in the New Castle Invitational. The score, 25 strokes better than their 2023 total, earned the Eagles a tie for 4th place in the seven team field. Brown County's top two golfers, Clay Austin and Wesley Arndt, led the team with an 87 and 88 respectively. Other BCHS scores: Jon Kirchhofer 100, Will Hiatt 102, and Liam Cassiday 107. "We actually played pretty well from tee to green. Our putting probably cost us at least a dozen strokes, but the greens at Westwood have a bit more undulation than we are accustomed to," stated Brown County coach Brad Baughman. Although official results have not yet been released, the winning team was New Castle White, with a 326. The invitational medalist was from Providence High School, and he shot an impressive six under par 64. This week the Eagles play Edgewood High School Thursday, May 23, at Cascades Golf Course.
