2023 Eagle Football Preview

By Colton Sample | Aug 3, 2023 11:15 AM

Official practices have begun for the Eagles, as they took the field for the first time this week in their 2023 season. This year's Eagles will have a good mix of returning players and new faces to the program and look to build on last year's lumps. After a great summer of off-season work, that included a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium for a late June Scrimmage, the team is ready to get to work in preparation of the 2023 campaign. The Eagles currently have only 4 seniors on the roster in Wyatt Sutter, Jesse Fouts, Gavin Mullis, and the only returning senior from last year, Caleb Knaus. While those 4 will be expected to contribute right away, a decent sized Junior Class is where a lot of returning experience comes from. Noah Lewis, Tommy Buccos, Landon Scott, Kody Shugars, as well as Jackson Daugherty all return to starting roles for a second season for the Eagles. Fellow Junior classmates, Liam Cassiday, Carter Bare, and Cory Bartlett look to be big pieces in completing the puzzle. Also returning for Brown County is Sophmore Westin Fulford. As a freshman last year, Fulford found himself as a 2 way starter and looks to have a bigger role! The Eagles will take the field next Friday for their pre-season scrimmage with Monrovia. It is a 7pm kick-off at Daily Hill Field. The 2023 season opener will take place on August 18th as the Eagles travel to the 2-time defending WIC Champions, Owen Valley.
